Technologies at Our Dental Clinic
At Upper Ottawa Dental, the technology we use helps to provide dental care, diagnosis and treatment plans at your appointments. We can display digital X-rays and scans on the monitors in our treatment rooms, allowing us to show you any issues in your mouth and walk you through your treatment plan.
We aim to provide patients with dental care while helping them make fully informed decisions about their oral health. Dental technology can help us accomplish this.
Instead of traditional photographic X-ray film, digital X-rays operate with digital sensors to produce highly detailed computer images of your teeth and gums, in addition to other oral conditions and structures. This allows your dentist to examine parts of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye.
Panoramic X-rays help your dentist create a single flat image of the teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and the nasal and sinus structures. Our dentists will often use panoramic X-rays to help plan treatments for implants, braces and extractions.
Intraoral scanners create digital dental impressions as an efficient alternative to traditional dental impressions which can also be messy. Your dentist simply uses an optical scanning wand to take a digital image of your teeth within minutes. With this device, your dentist gathers data to create digital replicas of the hard and soft tissues in your mouth.
