Dental implants are offered at Upper Ottawa Dental to restore broken or missing teeth. These can restore your smile and your confidence, and allow you to get back to eating those hard foods you may be avoiding.
What are they?
A dental implant is an artificial root made of composite metal that is surgically inserted into the jawbone. The dentist will peel back a thin layer of tissue before drilling a small hole into the gumline that is specifically measured so that your implant will fit perfectly. Once the implant, or "post" is inserted, the gum is stitched and the implant is given time to heal. In time, the implant fuses with bone tissue and behaves as an anchor for a replacement tooth. Generally, a crown is fitted to the post and from then on it is cared for like a regular tooth through brushing and flossing.
Benefits
Dental implants are an excellent solution if you wish to repair damaged teeth for the long-term, and they ensure that no further treatment should be required once the treatment is complete. Replacements look and behave just like natural teeth.
